BOARD MEETING  

Date:    August 31^st, 2004

Time:    5:00pm – 6:15pm

Not on Agenda:

Discussed Linlee’s new school. Julie Partington suggested doing a letter to put Linlee’s new school construction at the top of the list. Melissa Lawrence and Julie Partington will work on letter.

AGENDA

1. Fall Carnival (food drive) October 15^th, 2004 5:30pm-7:00pm

    -Divided the carnival into sections; prizes, games, & decorations, volunteers, silent auction

      (theme baskets) and food. A board member and parent volunteers will head each

    -prizes & games, decorations will be headed by Julie Martin and Julie Partington

    -Sharon Anderson will head food

    -Pam Thompson will head silent auction (theme baskets)

    -Melissa Lawrence will head volunteers

    -at carnival you can donate canned food (non perishables) for carnival tickets

    -will do bracelets and tickets/two to three people will work ticket booth

    -Pam Thompson to create volunteer sign up sheet for 5 areas of help (will distribute sign up

     sheet at next PTA meeting)

2. Misc. Kids Day September 28^th, 2004

    -all decided on various ways to celebrate kid’s day: below are the set plans

    -gift bags (with candy and pencils) given to student at the end of the day

    -decorate lunchroom tables and put up banner (donated by Julie Partington)

    -Popsicles given to students at recess

    -Julie Martin will pick up Popsicles, and other supplies

    -Melissa Lawrence will buy chocolate kisses and pencils; will create gift bags

    -Sharon Anderson, Julie Martin will decorate lunchroom and Julie Martin will clean up

    -Mr. Parrish will play music at lunch

    -Ms. Proctor will make an announcement about Kid’s Day

    -agreed to a $150 budget for this event

3. Dates and Childcare

   -make offer to staff at Linlee to provide daycare at PTA meeting

   -will pay staff with a gift certificate (dept. stores, restaurants, Fayette Mall) amount $25.00

4. Budget-Skipped (pushed to next meeting 9/16/04)

5. Scholarships

    -Julie Partington talked about Fayette County having a High School Scholarship and that

     Linlee’s PTA should donate (in the past Linlee’s PTA has not donated)

   -Everyone agree to donate to this scholarship

   -Julie Martin will have Scott Martin donate $500.00 to Linlee’s PTA

   -Everyone agreed to donate $500 to the scholarship

6. Fundraising September 15^th – October 4^th or 5^th 2004

    -Fundraiser person comes to Linlee a couple of days beforehand to demonstrate how it will

     work (will have a video)

7. Misc. (Agenda for next meeting)

    -meetings will be 3^rd Thursday of every month at 5:30pm with the next PTA meeting on

     9/16/04 THIS IS TENTATIVE
